Soooo…. first show I saw at the ACTF was Sweeney Todd. Now as many of you know I’m very picky when it comes to Sondheim shows ESPECIALLY one as complex as Sweeney… so to spare you all I’m going to list the good qualities of this show on here.
1: The guy Playing Sweeney was PHENOMENAL. Literally on of the best portrayals of this character I have seen. His voice was perfect for the part and in a way it was almost like listening to Len Cariou.
2: Mrs. Lovett was hilarious and well sung. She never threw away a line and was amazing with Comedic Timing. She combined Angela’s mannerisms, Patti’s voicing of the character, and (unfortunately) Helena’s Costume. but by NO means was she boring.
3:Joanna killed Green Finch and Linnet Bird…. that is all
4: The Orchestra was comparable to the cast album nearly. and with only 8 people in it, thats impressive.
5: The set was really great and almost identical to the original Broadway production, which can be a good or a bad thing depending on your opinion.
